This is one of Sebastian's experiments. I don't know how he did it, but after we came home from a nightly stroll yesterday, he had this on his flash card. We like the fiery look of it.
Very cool. It's like feathers of fire. Otto K @ 2006-May-26 18:17
Wow, very interesting shot, looks like brushed metal. Justin Gaynor @ 2006-May-26 19:00

I like this abstract, this is a good one with nice shapes and colours. [010design-photoblog] @ 2006-May-26 20:21
Ein gelungenes Experiment mit starker Wirkung. Nur eine Frage: Was ist das? ;-) holger @ 2006-May-26 20:38
Well, however he did it, it's definitely very cool. Dennis Rogers @ 2006-May-26 20:42
I usually don't like photos like these, but this actually looks like something. feathers and fire. maybe feathers on fire? hehe Minna @ 2006-May-26 21:24
Very interesting image. Very dinamic. I love de ambient color Manuel @ 2006-May-26 23:00
Looks like one of Winamp's visualization plugins :B Roberto Amorim @ 2006-May-27 00:13
The more I spend time looking at this, the more blown away I am! It's like I have nothing to compare this to, it's not a liquid, a solid, a gas, it's beautifully freaky!! fotojo @ 2006-May-27 08:42
Incredible experiment. I thought it was fire as I looked at; I sat there trying to dissect the shot (my favorite shots). As I sat there, I imagined it was fire caught on the ceiling over beams or something. Incredible abstract work, and it does look like a spectacular visualization. Cheers, Brent Brent Vermilyea @ 2006-May-27 09:04
That is a really wild image! micki @ 2006-May-27 10:36

Wow, what a cool effect! Love it! Nicola @ 2006-May-27 21:01
hey hey what great response :) Thanx everyone!
Well, since so many asked, that's what it is: A one second exposure walking along stacked pipes of a construction, which were wet from the rain and thus reflected the orange light of the mercury street lamps. I also toned and rotated the image 180 degrees.
Interesting to see so many of you see feathers in it, I didn't have this association at all.
@Jeremy: Thank you. Some could say we are too defocused, I say we enjoy constantly searching for something different, there's so much to experiment with and try out!
@Fotojo: The... fifth element?
@Uwe: Now that sounds interesting. Suposing you had enough spare DSLRs the problem would be how to get the data on the flash card... Sebastian @ 2006-May-27 21:28
Thow works for me but I'm wondering what it would have looked likd inverted! Jide Alakija @ 2006-May-28 11:11
