Ella gone experi-mental again. I was asking myself if (no, not if this is still photography! ;) ) a photoblog with an audience with certain expectations is the best place to put up something like this. Though I like it, I don't even know by which criteria to evaluate an image that is so unusual. Maybe that's a good thing, as we're always trying to persue something that is unique to us. If you have some thoughts or opinion about this please don't hesitate to comment.

• I've wondered the same thing. When I started photoblogging, it was mainly to have a forum for shots that wouldn't necessarily get framed and hung. Now I find myself not wanting to put anything up that's not of certain quality (I realize this is a slightly different question than what you were asking, but I think the principle is the same). But I suppose that's what's keeping me on track and growing artistically, and I would imagine you're finding the same thing. That said, I really like the shot... it almost looks as if the bug is crawling on an abstract watercolor painting.

• For the most part my phlog is the place to put up my progress of learning, experimenting, and just having fun. Having an audience is cool sometimes, but ultimately I do it to really see the progress myself and to have a reason to keep at it. I enjoy visiting other sites where they push themselves and document thier progress as well, slightly for inspiration.

• The experi-mental in two words was fun to read! I know that you're saying with the whole audience/expectation thing, but unless you are doing this website to keep an audience (which I'm pretty sure you don't), then why not trying new things. I really like this one. Creepy is right. ;-)

  @matthew and others: Yes, a composite of two completely unrelated shots I took, mixed by Ella with blending mode 'difference'. The BG was a nightshot of the shadows cast by the plants on the semi-opaque windows of the arborium of Stuttgarts zoo.

• I think you have made it quite clear that you experiment with the digital media in the main, and so that is what I have come to expect, and one of the reasons I return regularly. How to evaluate the image? Maybe you should categorise the image and evaluate it from there?
