This photoblog is kept by my wife Ella and myself as a motivation to keep photographing and persuing our
visions. We're living in Stuttgart, south Germany. Ella is 32, and
she's got a diploma in psychology, so beware. I'm 28, studying
at the Stuttgart Media University to get a masters degree in computer science and media.
We've both taken photos for years but only got into serious photography recently,
with the inception of this blog. When shooting pictures we don't focus on any
particular subjects. We experiment with new ideas and possibilities that come
to mind. Nevertheless we've found some subjects we enjoy and which we'd like
to explore more in the future: Rust & decay (plenty of that already), media
criticism, film noir, retro style and unusual portraits.
We've been asked several times: Two people running a blog, who does what?
Except for the very first pictures online all images are collaborations on at
least one stage of the making. We go shooting together and seize each opportunity
individually. The majority of shots that ended on the blog were taken by me,
but were often results of Ella's idea. Processing is done in sync too, I handle
most of Photoshop and check back with Ella at intermediate stages. She's also
doing more PS work right now with her collages and gradients. In any case it
is always the both of us that agree to put a picture up. We think the end result
is what counts and by the time a picture is ready to be uploaded we have mostly
forgotten what was whose idea.
As for style, it's hard to distinguish between the two of us, but Ella is more
into collages, toy cam or artsy looks and such, while I'm a bit more into abstracts,
unusual perspectives or rather clean compositions. We both like to experiment
with color shifting through (digital) cross processing and grading.
While our goal is to post one photo a day, we will rather skip a day than publish
something we are not satisfied with.

Screen calibration
For site visitors without the means to do a proper screen calibration the image below offers a little help to adjust brightness and/or gamma: You should adjust it so that you can distinguish between all blocks below, especially between X, Y and Z and ideally A, B and C, too.
