The thing that I first noticed in this picture is the abscence of bright colours. The washed out colours makes for some very nice effect.
Then, I noticed the sky. The looming clouds give you an uneasy feeling, as if the Tribulation was going on and the wreckage down below was the result of it.
All in all, a very nice picture, that manages to bring some interesting feelings to whoever is watching it, and gets you to think...
Congratulations! Roberto Amorim @ 2006-April-3 11:10
Wow. I love this. It's perfectly composed, even though the subject is so randomly arranged. And I think it's plenty colourful. The oranges are a great highlight. tore @ 2006-April-3 13:24
stunning! it really draws you in... nicely done. lawrence @ 2006-April-3 14:21
Gorgeous! Looks unreal and somehow like it's from a cartoon...
I love it!
Cheers! Erik Alerstam @ 2006-April-3 15:42
Terrific photo. The muted color tones are very nice. It does have an almost unreal quality to it. Otto K @ 2006-April-3 15:52
So much interest in the shot, glad you did not super saturate the shot. Mal @ 2006-April-3 15:58
amazing! surreal! so much to look at! the clouds are great ... the junk is great ... the colors ... i am amazed every few days when i see something truely great that someone has captured - & usually it's here by you two!!

Very appropriately titled!
It's a shame this stuff has to go somewhere, you don't have to be a rocket scientist to gather where some, of the by-products from refining and recycling will end up!
It's an interesting contrast in colours both natural an synthetic. I like the new site Sebastian and Ella. Great to see comments up too ndiginiz @ 2006-April-4 03:15
Love this shot! wonder if my old car is in there somewhere... Scott @ 2006-April-6 01:27
Wonderful catch! Never visited a junk yard, but did it stink? Gary @ 2006-April-7 10:15
Nice shot. The composition works really well for this disorganized pile of junk. Looks great. Chris @ 2006-April-7 13:06
Thanks everyone. Once again we weren't expecting this much positive response :)
@Gary: It didn't really stink as this was no landfill but rather a classic junkyard. There was a strong smell of metal and motor oil, though. sknop @ 2006-April-7 19:59
so amazing !!!! i keep my eyes on this shoot since 2 minutes. nim @ 2006-April-7 23:01
wow. wahnsinns farben und wunderschönes detailreiches foto. will mehr davon ;) thomas @ 2006-April-8 09:06
This is one of the best photos I have seen in a long time, great job you did here! I love the colours! Who would have thought a dump would be that colourful? :D Minna @ 2006-April-10 18:04
Wow ! terrific ! Seems to be HDR, usually i'm not a fan of this effect but here it is well used. One of the most beautiful bloody mess that i've seen ! :D Julien @ 2006-April-11 01:59
Thank you :)
@Julien: Yes, this is indeed HDR. Even though I compensated the exposure the sky was completely blown out, so I had to reach deeper into the bag of tricks. sknop @ 2006-April-11 10:12
Wow, now that's a different kind of landscape. miles @ 2006-April-11 16:23
very futuristique :-) ...and maybe this future is close at hand
