Here is the second street scene we have already mentioned yesterday.
We encoutered two homeless men sitting with their dogs on the Königsstrasse - Stuttgart's main pedestrian zone and shopping area - asking for a handout. The first guy (seen on this picture) was an educator for children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. After some time unemployed he had fallen into the spiral of the socially excluded. The second guy has already lived on the streets for 20 years.
On this particular day they had been sitting there for five hours, but had hardly collected any money. In the late afternoon the temperature had dropped to around 3ºC. It was the german shepherds 8th birthday (the dog on the left) and as a present they had wanted to buy her a bone. She had been a trained police dog, but the previous owner mistreated her, so when the man first took care of her, she wouldn't even let him touch her. Now she proudly protects her new owner.
