Hello MrC, thank you for your suggestion. We do care!
Jokes aside, we've chosen the 'dogged' version for several reasons. Without a living being and its organic shape the picture would be just another graphical and rather abstract shot. The dog also adds a sense of size and perspective. We've put up a similar shot without it so you can judge for yourself.

lol ... cheers for satisfying my curiosity!
i have to admit that i too probably now prefer the one with the dog! ;) ... but i really like the one without - i am a fan of the more abstract style (wish i did more of it myself - maybe i shall) .... but the best bit now is being able to flick between the two pictures - dog / no dog / dog / no dog .. & so on! lol ... am i too asily amused?
anyway.. big thanks .. & i'll be sure to comment!

The dog makes the picture. I love the two white circles and the perpendicular lines with the diagonal shadow, but the dog cutting through the scene just picks it right up. micki @ 2006-March-26 03:55
no dog for me please! i don't think it adds to what is a very nice architectural photo. david @ 2006-March-27 16:06
haha, dog for me please :D ! this photo would have been empty without that dog, and for me it would have been sterile. Like that i can feel the solitude of this poor animal. Perhaps that i would have wait a 1/2 sec to see that dog after the shadow of the lamp and perhaps that i would have hide the leash ;). Anyway, that's an interresting picture and i really appreciate to see so differents points of view ;) Julien @ 2006-March-30 14:22
Yes, you're right Julien, the leash should have been taken care of. I now uploaded a retouched version (cheating!) ;) sknop @ 2006-March-30 21:46
Hello, Sahnehörnchen ! Dogs and posts belong together as Castorp and Rauxel ! Fine that you realized that ! Abraço Opa de Botucatu @ 2006-April-19 13:36
I like this photograph, it's simple, well seen, and dog certainly is an object that makes you think -- in this simple setting. Discussion on whether it would be better with or without it is irrelevant. What it tells should be the discussion. I'd also prefer the with-leash version, it's a missing fact & story, too. Cheers.
