A photobloggers' cliché: Seat - outside 2006-05-1012 Comments
Another find next to abandoned railroad tracks.
What we really would like to know is: Is this "just a stool" for you? Or does the picture stand on its own in your opinion, because of the colors, the processing, the lighting or some other element?
Three pictures of seating-accomodations outside we like:
'Best Seat In The House' by 'What The Heck Journal'
'Sacked #2' by 'Moodaholic'
'Pink Chair' by 'JamesDodd'
We are sure there are many more pictures out there that fit this theme and it would be great, if you would like to tell us about your favorites!
Hey great picture, and its interesting to see the others you have linked to. Your image works on its own it has aspects peculiar to only this image that work. But it really also works using a sort of pavlovian response to this subject matter. It brings with it the unconscious significance of the other images with this same subject matter to both photographer and viewer. There is something that serves to draw many photographers to outside benches and chairs outside that should be inside. Even the greats of the past like Edward Western and Henri Cartier-Bresson et all. Geoff Dyer wrote a book called 'the ongoing moment' that analysis' subjects that draw photographers back repeatedly and the influence of past images on the photographers that come later. I might be wrong but I have a feeling there was a section on abandoned benches and chairs. Interesting, nice one. jezblog @ 2006-May-10 16:18

Excellent color tones. Great vintage feel here. You can really get lost in this one. Regards, Brent Brent Vermilyea @ 2006-May-11 12:48
I have tried to capture stools like this but always failed, because I never quite get the feeling that I wanted. I think this is great and I don't know if it because the post processing, I haven't seen the original. I have seen the other links before and think Moodaholic's shot are outstanding. eterisk @ 2006-May-11 14:00
I love the tones and the post-processing work... Great atmosphere!
I've also captured a seat outside. If you are interested:
